By capturing light across a broad range of spectral bands, including those normally invisible to the human eye, farmers and agronomists have the opportunity to understand soil and crop conditions to a much greater extent than would be possible by traditional observation. This greater insight provides the end user with better information from which decisions regarding fertilizer, pesticide, fungicide, and herbicide application can be made, reducing operational costs and the undesirable environmental impacts resulting from over application.
